I am blown away by this man. He has broken open a place in my heart that has been getting closed off again by prejudice, judgment and sweeping generalization. Thinking I can know what people are all about by “sizing them up” is bull. This guy is a very Special Man, but the Courage and Goodness he exhibited is there inside many, many people I am dismissive of throughout my day. I applaud the Courageous example of his act, but I also thank him personally for reminding me in a very powerful way the value of each and every human being I encounter as I walk the path of my day.

God, I wish I could find it!!! I can’t remember what it was on, but it was amazing. The only guys who responded bravely were exactly the kind of guys stereotypes like to demonize. I have been thinking of this video a lot because there has been a lot of racist comments on a video I put up about the Epic Beard Man incident. I wish I could remember the specifics of this story I read maybe 20 yrs ago…anyway, this klansman in Illinois kept harassing/picketing local Jews and generally making their lives miserable. The klansman gets cancer and is tended every day by his Jewish neighbors! They know who he is but care for him anyway. When he recovered, he went around to schools lecturing to kids about how prejudice and hate are wrong. Who knows how positive change will enter anyone’s life. Amazing Grace indeed.

A news crew staged an “abduction” of a little girl on a busy city street. Dozens of people walked by as she struggled and cried out, “YOU’RE NOT MY DADDY!” The first who finally responded… were two young black men. I still tear up thinking of their courage. We all need to try to understand, love and support one another. Thanks for your comment.

Davidthorough, your point is well taken. You have been lead by your heart and the light which is internally reflected by your testimony, can not be exstinguished by any form of darkness. The beauty of Mr.Autery’s act, is the ensuing debate of a nations moral fiber. This grassroot momentum can change a national mindset if we allow it to. To those who feel the need to condem the hatemongers, please know your energy is needed elswhere.
