After doing a few studies on the psycological differences between males and females. I came to realize the fact that most males, starting at an early age and all the way through the generations, they will always want to be the hero to, for lack of a better term, be the knight in shining armour. Why is this? What creates these heroic needs?

It is because of the submissiveness, genuine love and respect and sometime the weakness of females. Otherwise the ladies are also now leading and dominating and making their husbands hen pecked.

Men are more likely to stop and help someone if they think the act will be interpreted as brave and chivalrous. Women tend to stop and help more if it is an emergency that requires nurturing. This theory seems to hold true prosocial behavioral situations. I think that men feel this way because they are not as physically threatened by the unknown as a woman. If a woman pulls over to help a man stranded on the side of the road, she would lose the battle in almost any situation. Men have a fair shot at whomever needs assistance were the person to become violent. This physically superior strength allows men to feel safe even in plausibly unsafe situations.
Plus, developmentally, boys are naturally attracted to toys and colors deemed masculine by society even before social influence ensues. This inclination develops and fuels masculinity (not to mention the power of testosterone).

Its built in. It comes from prehistoric times when women were nesters and men were provider/protectors. Mates were chosen on the ability to protect the nest and feed the young’uns. Heros had sex, mild mannered reporters did not.
