Martha Stewart is a modern day tragic hero. She was on top of the world but went to jail due to her greed, obstructing justice, lying and conspiring with her stock broker about a crime she knew that she never committed. She did her jail time and is back on top of the world again. That was in 2004-2005.

Michael Vick is another. Or DMX. Both fell from grace due to making really stupid things that they knew were wrong.

I don't know but it would be interesting to see if Kurt Cobain realized his mistakes that led to his suicide.

I'm wondering if some of the baseball players who finally admitted they used steroids, if some of them are tragic heroes.

I think maybe many of the Bush administration became tragic heroes when they finally realized they had agreed to work for a government which betrayed their ideals.

There are several military figures who have become tragic heroes because they dared to speak out against the Iraqi war. Their military careers are ruined but they struggled against powers much greater than them in so the world would know the truth. Unfortunately the media and the government bury them in obscurity and defamation, you might find it hard to research them.

The American Taliban, John Lind, has become a tragic hero to many Moslems. He has been put in prison under high security but he continues to maintain his beliefs despite the price he pays.
